The overdue debts to tax offices rose over 10 billion euros

1 in 4 Greeks owe to the tax authorities - 19,077 borrowers who have entered a setting, can not pay their installments on time

The overdue debts to tax offices rose over 10 billion euros
1 in 4 Greeks owe to the tax authorities, according to data from the General Secretariat of Revenue. More specifically, the debts accumulated by 1,274 million Greeks to the tax authorities until the end of 2012 amounted to 52.5 billion euros. Between January 2013 and January 2014 10,098 billion euros were added, owed by 2,653 million people.

According to the figures from the General Secretariat of Revenue, the tax offices managed to collect 304.7 million euros. The amount of debts that were included in a setting at the end of January through the “fixed rules” program stood at 529.5 million euros and through the “last chance” program at 974 million euros, that is, a total of 1.5 billion euros debts was settled.

The following findings are noteworthy:

- the outstanding balance of the accumulated debts up to 31/12/2012 was 52.5 billion euros at the end of January 2014, owed by 1,274,000 Greeks

- the outstanding balance of debts after 1/1/2013 amounted to 10,098 billion euros and is owed by 2,653 million Greeks

- applications for entering the "last chance" program that also provides for many installments totaled 99,793 at the end of January. In the "fixed program" requests amounted to 92,323, 14,130 of which have not been validated, and 19,077 of the borrowers who have entered the setting can not pay their installments on time.
