Political side effects for milk: Charakopoulos insists on his objection

For the fresh milk of 10 days he said: "We hope that common sense will prevail and this proposal will follow the others"

The pressure from troika is causing political side effects. It is characteristic that deputy minister Maximus Charakopoulos insists in his objection regarding the issue of milk.

Colleagues of the minister commented on yesterday's developments: "After the proposal for abolition of the term “fresh milk” which proved that it is used in most European countries; after the ridiculous suggestion for "fresh bottled milk of two days" which we proved that cannot exist, we see today in the media the return of last year’s proposal for fresh milk of 10 days as a an alleged retreat. In essence it is the same suggestion in different words. However, the results will be the same: a devastating blow to the cattle raisers and massive imports of milk that will cause a dramatic increase in the deficit of the agricultural trade balance. And all this with questionable benefit to the consumer in the final price. We hope logic will prevail and this proposal will follow the others before it."

The issue of milk however, is causing reactions in the parliamentary groups of the two coalition parties and fears are being expressed that it might cause losses when placed for a vote in the Greek parliament.
