Kedikoglou: We are very close to an agreement with the troika

He reiterated that the Greek government is negotiating hard and is determined to reach its goals

Government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou spoke of progress in the negotiations with the troika after the meetings in the MoF that concluded at 5 in the morning and are expected to continue at noon.

"There has been progress. We are very close to being able to close the negotiation," he said on ANT1 TV and reiterated that the Greek government is negotiating hard and is determined to achieve its goals.

"Conspiracy theories of SYRIZA"

Kedikoglou attacked SYRIZA and its leader Alexis Tsipras, whom he accused of "attempting to undermine the national effort with obvious unacceptable expediencies."

"The conspiracy theories of SYRIZA must stop. What we have heard in recent days is beyond all reason," he said, commenting on Tsipras’ report that a rigged exit to the markets is being prepared.

"What Tsipras is doing is unacceptable. It is an attempt to undermine the national effort with obvious unacceptable expediencies. Tsipras has said that we cannot execute the 2013 budget, we will have a problem with the budget of 2014, there will be no surplus. What he says about a rigged exit to the markets shows the size of his ignorance. What we have achieved and was planned for the end of 2015, we do it a year and a half earlier. We will reach the markets. And yes we will borrow at a bigger cost than what we are borrowing under the terms of the memorandum," Kedikoglou said.
