Eurogroup: Good news - Greece is recovering

The meeting over Greece was concluded in a “very positive climate” today in Zappeion. The Prime Minister will have separate meetings this afternoon with Mr. Schauble and Mr. Dijsselbloem. The meeting with Mr. Dijsselbloem is programmed to take place at 18:15 and the one with the German FinMin at 19:30. Mr. Samaras will then be addressing the Ecofin dinner at the Acropolis Museum at 20:00.

According to Finance Ministry sources, “the debate took place under an extremely positive climate, and this is reflected in the Council's statements”. Other sources mentioned that the final Troika report for the evaluation of the Greek economy is due to be ready shortly before Easter.


Decisions will be made in national parliaments until the 17th of April, on the release of the 6.4 billion isntallment within the month. Two installments will be released in May by the IMF, totalling 3.4 billion euros. 1.2 billion euros will be given in June, followed by another billion in July after the implementation of prerequisite actions. The government is still waiting for a “signal” by Mr. Rehn and Mr. Schauble on the future of Greek debt.
