Greek Ombudsman releases report on gender equality in labor relations

The Greek Ombudsman has released a special report on gender equality, according to which the investigated cases for uneven treatment in the workplace rose by 25% since the previous year

The report indicates that there is a clear impact of the financial crisis on the work relations as they are formed nowdays in Greece, especially in women's employment issues in terms of the increased need for protection of motherhood and family.
During the last three years there is a notable extinction of issues related to unequal access to employment, which can be easily explained by the increased unemployment rates for women, due to the background of the economic crisis.
It should also be noted that the Greek Ombudsman was asked to intervene in a number of cases relating to paternal leave in the public sector, due to the reluctance of some agencies to harmonise with the equal treatment of sexes on the parental leave subject.
