Abdullah Gul: I do not want to be Prime Minister

A "Putin-Medvedev" swap does not suit Turkey, he stated

Abdullah Gul, in his latest statements on Friday, ruled out the possibility of him becoming Prime Minister.

Specifically, Gul stated that an exchange of roles between the PM and the President in the "standards of Putin-Medvedev" does not suit Turkey.

"I have no political plan for the future under current circumstances", stated Gul when asked on the presidential elections in August in which Erdogan is expected to be a candidate.

When asked if a "Putin-Medvedev" standard could be devised, Gul said that such a formula would not be "appropriate" for a democracy. The Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev was appointed in 2012 by President and former PM Vladimir Putin.
