Zakynthos: A polular Easter destination for 2014

A large number of holiday makers have arrived in the last hours to Zakynthos, resulting to an increase of ferry routes for the line Zakynthos - Kyllini.

Despite the bad weather conditions, 3,000 passengers traveled yesterday, on Maundy Thursday, to the island and today even more traffic is expected at the Kyllini port. For this reason nine ship routes will be operated instead of the regular five, while on Holy Saturday six routes will be operated instead of three, as was initially scheduled.

The vast majority of visitors from Kyllini port are Greeks.

In the meantime, the first charter flights arrive tomorrow to Zakynthos, with tourists from countries of northern and central Europe.

These flights open the tourist season, which according to estimates of tourism operators is very promising, even compared to last year's good tourism performance of the island.

The first flights come from Holland and will be followed by arrivals from Great Britain and Poland.
