Rome will be swarmed with believers
With every solemnity, on Sunday, there will be a double beatification of Pope John Paul II and Pope John the 23rd, while the attendance is expected to exceed one million, who will watch the anticipated ceremony.
Already, numerous Catholics have flocked to the Italian capital, while 54 missions from foreign countries and 24 heads of state are also expected. The ceremony does not preclude the attendance of Pope Benedict the 16th, who was succeeded by Pope Francis.
Nineteen big screens, placed in emblematic places of the Italian capital will be broadcasting the ceremony in different languages, while the organizers fear that believers might arrive at the last minute, without previously having booked rooms.
Cardinal Pucci, who is responsible for the ceremony revealed that 1700 coach buses, 58 chartered flights and five trains -those just from Poland- are expected to arrive, since Pope John Paul was Polish.
The Costs
The ceremony will cost 500.000 euros, while the rest of the money will be paid by the municipality of Rome, which amounts to around 5 million euros. During the weekend, 4400 police officers will be patrolling the city, with more expected to be sent as backup by the Italian government.
