Afghanistan: Second round of elections

Expected to take place in June
The second round is expected to determine the outcome of presidential elections in Afghanistan, as none of the candidates failed to garner 50% required for the elections.
The two finalists, Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani are expected to joust it out in the second round of elections to be held on June 7th.
According to results of the first round Abdullah came first, garnering 44.9% of the vote while Ghani got 31.5%.
"According to our results, it appears that the elections will have a second round", stated the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, Ahmed Yusuf Nouristani.
About seven million Afghanis headed to the polls to democratically elect the first successor of the outgoing president Hamid Karzai.
