International Award for Greek actor Manolis Mavromatakis

He won the Best Actor Award at the Nashville International Film Festival for his performance in the film "The enemy within" but as he said, he didn't have the financial ability to travel to the US in order to receive the award!

Manolis Mavromatakis accepted an award...in absentia at the International Film Festival in Nashville, Tennessee, where he won the Best Actor Award for his performance in the film "The enemy within" by George Tsemberopoulos.

Neither the actor nor the director had the money to travel to Nashville, where one of the most important independent film festivals takes place. In Tsemberopoulos film , which was also nominated for the award Tiantan at the fourth International Film Festival in Beijing, Manolis Mavromatakis plays the role of an ordinary man, 48-year old Kostas Stasinos, the owner of a garden supply store. Costas lives a quiet life with his wife Rania, their 17 year old son Andrew and their 14 year old daughter, Louisa. But after a gang of hoodlums ransacks his house, he's forced out of his comfort zone and his perspective on life is radically changed.
The Greek actor is currently directing "Brokenville", a play by Philip Ridley which will be presented at Porta Theater, in the context of Athens Festival.
