Ios 4.2 is here at last…

If you are a lucky owner of an iPad you’d rather anticipated iOS 4.2.

Last September, Apple announced that a major iPad software update called iOS 4.2, would be available soon.

Multitasking, file folders, big changes and improvements to e-mail services, integration of GameCenter, and improvements to Safari, will all be included.

Apart from these useful functions, the company has added two key features that promise great improvement of the user’s experience of the tablet: These are AirPrint and AirPlay. Both programs make use of the WiFi network, some compatible printers and the new Apple TV application, thus trying to promote the tablet more as the center of the user’s digital life, and not as just another gadget.

Presentation

As we already mentioned in a previous article, the software is functionally almost similar to its predecessor. Even though the iPad has half the memory of the new iPhone 4, the table’s functions do not seem to slow down at all, with the A4 chip running at 1GHz. App to app switching, multitasking and managing large files are "clean" and fast, making the tablet feel more like a laptop computer.

AirPlay and AirPrint

Simple and easy to use, AirPlay is based on the idea of promoting multimedia data, and more, from the iPad or iPhone to compatible devices.

This means that it can play video or music directly from Apple's devices and transfer them to Apple TV, although there is still no compatibility with web pages based on HTML 5.

Although there was some delay in the reproduction from web pages, there is also the ability to put the device in standby mode, or place it on a charger, while uploading a video.

Other features are enhancements to e-mail services with a centralized inbox and online messaging, among others. Also, files may contain up to 20 items or programs for easy aggregation of multiple apps.

Finally, the changes through the Music Widget and the usefulness of GameCenter are significant for those who want multiplayer games, from one device to another.

In conclusion, although the previous software gave the impression that it was half-finished, the new 4.2 does not leave any room for other disputes. The improvements are significant, and we are looking forward to the next version, which will offer even more
