Giorgos Fountas has passed away

Actor Giorgos Fountas passed away this afternoon, at 86, after a recent hospitalisation in a private clinic in Athens.

 

The funeral will be held on Wednesday 11 am, in the 1st Athens Cemetery.

He was born in 1924 and studied at the Drama School of the Athens Conservatory. His first appearance in films was in 1944 in «Heirokrotimata» by G. Tzavelas and almost a decade later he portrayed Miltos in «Stella» by Mich. Kakogiannis. 

He also acted in some of the historic films of Greek cinema such as "Magiki Polis" by N. Koundouros, "Ta kokkina fanaria" by Vas. Georgiadis and "Never on Sunday" by Jules Dassin.
