K. Hatzidakis "I feel no hate"

The parliament member of Nea Dimokratia Kostas Hatzidakis released a statement today, one day after the assault he suffered on Wednesday afternoon during the massive strike protests of ΓΣΕΕ and ΑΔΕΔΥ (employee syndicates).

"I feel no hate towards all those who assaulted me yesterday. However, we have to understand that Greece cannot move forward based on hatred and violence. On the contrary, we have to do our very best to overcome this massive crisis. I thank all those who stood by me during and after this assault. I especially wish to thank the police officer that the State has provided me with and the two citizens that tried to defend me".

The president of the New Democracy party (Nea Dimokratia), Antonis Samaras, who is attending a meeting in Brussels, contacted a high-ranking police official requesting that an example be made out of those who dared to assault the parliament member.

Mr. Samaras is in constant contact with Mr. Hatzidakis and is being notified of the progress of the latter's health.
