Snow in most areas of N.Greece

Thick snow has been covering Northern Greece and Thessaly since Thursday morning, and there have been many problems on all national roads and highways.

Specifically-

All vehicles moving in Central Macedonia need snow tire chains, especially for those going to Kilkis, Pella, Seres and Seli.
In Western Macedonia, snow tire chains are necessary for the areas of Kastoria, Florina, Vigla and Vlasti of Kozani.
There is an alert for the major highway of Egnatia Odos from Kavala to Xanthi, where the road is slippery. From Kavala to Drama snow tire chains are needed also.
In Thessaly all the rural roads that go towards Mount Pilio as well as Trikala and Karditsa, need snow tire chains.

In Fthiotida the snow continues to fall everywhere, and schools will remain closed.
In Trikala snow plows were needed to keep the national roads open. Magnisia is also covered in snow and all kindergarden and primary schools will remain closed.

In Achaia the roads towards the ski resort of Kalavrita, Serres and the surrounding areas were also filled with snow with schools closed and difficulties in local public transport.
