Authority workers for December 29 and 30 was ruled as illegal and improper after the administration of the Civil
Aviation Authority referred the issue to the courts of law.
However, in a statement in protothema.gr on Friday morning, the president of the Federation of Air Traffic Controllers, V. Alevizopoulos, reported that despite the court’s decision they will carry out their pre-announced strike.
«Yes, this action of ours these days is unacceptable but we have to react so the CAA will not go bankrupt. It is a profitable corporation today, but with the addition of 500 people it will become a liability», he stated.
Alevizopoulos stressed angrily that «they are forcing us to insist, since they chose to make the transfers in this particular period, thinking that we will not react during the holidays».
The board of OSYPA is meeting on Monday so that the workers can decide on their next actions.
Air Traffic Controllers have decided not to take part in the CAA strike. Still, the problems in the airports around the country will be serious, with flight delays and cancellations.
