New Year’s with overcast skies and rain

The overall forecast doesn’t seem to change and if some of us were disappointed about the lack of snow at Christmas, something similar will happen on New Year’s Day, save for some snowfall on the mountain regions in the north.

On Tuesday, local rain and temporary snowfall in the mountains will occur in Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly and eastern Mainland, and by noon the phenomena will have intensified. In Evia and eastern and southern Peloponnisos we will see some local rain and sporadic storms. For the Aegean rain and sporadic storms are predicted mainly in the east, where the weather will be intense until midday. In the Ionian winds will be 5-6b and in the morning 7b locally. The Dodecanese will have southeastern winds of 5-6b with a gradual decrease. Temperature will range from -1 in the north to 9C, and in the rest of the mainland from 1-15, 8-14C in the Ionian and 8-19C in the Aegean.

Local cloud with rain and snow in the mountains is expected for Chalkidiki, the eastern mainland, Evia and Peloponnisos on Wednesday. In the Aegean local rain will occur mainly in the east and south with a possibility of storms. Overcast skies with a lot of sunshine are predicted for the rest of the country. In the Ionian winds will be northwestern, 4-5b. The temperature in the north will be -3-8C, in the rest of the mainland -1-14C, in the Ionian 7-14C and the Aegean 7-17C.

On Thursday the weather will improve all over the country, with light local cloud and a lot of sunshine. In the Aegean the winds will come from the north at 4-5 and locally 6b, and only in the southeastern area will they reach 7b. The temperature in the north will be -3-8C, in the rest of the mainland 0-14 C, in the Ionian 6-14C and in the Aegean 7-16C.

On Friday, New Year's Eve, western, central and southern Greece, will see some slight cloud with a chance of local rain. The rest of the country will have some local rain and a lot of sunshine. In the Ionian the winds will be western, 3-4b and northern in the Aegean, 4-5b and 6 in the southeast with a gradual decrease in the afternoon. The temperature will range from -3-9C, 1-14C in the rest of the mainland, 6-14C in the Ionian and 7-16C in the Aegean.

On Saturday, New Year’s Day, local cloud is expected, increased in the west and the Aegean with local rain. In the Ionian winds will be eastern-northeastern 3-4b. In the Aegean winds will be western-southwestern 3-4 and in the south 5b. Temperature will be -2-10C in the north, 2-15C in the rest of the mainland, 7-16C in the Ionian and 8-17C in the Aegean.

Local cloud is expected in the north with a chance of local rain. The rest of the country will also see local cloud which will gradually increase, with local rain and sporadic storms in the east. Ionian winds will be variable, 3-4b and later northwestern, 5-6b. In the Aegean winds will be southwestern 4-5b and 6 in the south, turning to northern 5-6 and locally 7b during the night. The temperature in the north will be -2-10C, 2-15C in the rest of the mainland, 7-16C in the Ionian and 8-17C in the Aegean.

Local rain in the east and north is expected for Monday, but the weather will quickly imrove. The rest of the country will have local cloud and a lot of sunshine. In the Ionian winds will be variable, 3-4b and in the Aegean they will be northern 5-6b and 7b in the southeast, with a gradual decrease. The temperature in the north will be -1-9C, 3-14C in the rest of the mainland, 8-15C in the Ionian and 9-16 in the Aegean.
