The Ministers are meeting with the people to improve their image

In an effort to redefine the relationship between the PASOK government and society, the party has decided to hold a National Conference in June, a National Assembly by the end of February and a meeting of the Parliamentary Team by the end of January.

During the ψourse towards the National assembly, government members will travel around the country and hold talks with party groups all over Greece in order to focus on the points that their portfolio dictates - as far as Ministers are concerned- and on the problems of locals -as far as parliament members are concerned-.

The PASOK meeting focused on the reactivation of the three main pylons: Party-Parliamentary Team- Government, after the preceding harsh period, but also in view of future laws on transportation issues, taxation and "closed" professions.

There was worry aplenty during the meeting todayn about Mr Pagkalos' recent behaviour and how it could be justified to the people.

The main idea of the meeting can be encapsulated in the phrase "conditions have changed, principles remain unaltered", which the Prime Minister used during his talk. The same line will be followed during the national assembly in February, while the parliamentary team meeting will focus on the law-making and political initiatives that must be taken.

Last but not least, the borrowing of 2 billion was positively received during Tuesday's meeting. In his presentation, the Prime Minister Mr. Giorgos Papandreou stated that the government's aim remains "a country with social justice, a productive, creative country that respects its citizens and provides prospects for the young. Greece must have a strong presence and a clear message on the international stage". He proceeded to add: "Whatever the difficulties, we will persevere and achieve our goal".
