Σοκ προκαλούν σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο οι εικόνες από την ανείπωτη καταστροφή σε ένα από τα μνημεία της παγκόσμιας πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς: Η Παναγία των Παρισίων, η «Νotre Dame» έχει παραδοθεί στις φλόγες. Οι αρχές εκτιμούν ότι ξεκίνησε από ατύχημα, ενώ αυτή την ώρα καταβάλλεται προσπάθεια για να περισωθούν έργα τέχνης μέσα από τον Ιστορικό ναό:. Ο πρόεδρος της Γαλλίας Εμανουέλ Μακρόν που βρίσκεται αυτή την ώρα στον τόπο της καταστροφής, δήλωσε ότι μαζί με την Παναγία των Παρισίων «καίγεται και ένα κομμάτι από μας».
